The absolutely true diary of a part time Indian

I think the conflict in The Absolutely True Diary of a Part Time Indian is that Arnold is getting bullied by the white kids at his school and on the Rez. He didn't like getting bullied so he left the Rez and went to a new school called, Reardan. The setting is on the Rez and at school and now his new school, Reardan. The characters are Arnold, his parents, his best friend Rowdy who beats him even though they are friends.

MIP- "If you stay on this rez, they're going to kill you. I'm going to kill you. We're all going to kill you. You can't fight us forever." His teacher, Mr. P said this to him after Arnold hit him in the face with a book. I think this is important because if Arnold stays at the school, he is going to get bullied and get hurt. Mr. P is suggesting that he leaves the Rez to save himself from getting hurt. I think he should leave so he doesn't get killed. Later in the Book he leaves the Rez and goes to a new school called Reardan.

SOB- " During one week when I was little, Dad got stopped 3 times for DWI: Driving While Indian." I think this a sentence of brilliance because the sentence brings humor to the story keeping the reader interested. In the story, the people in the town don't like Indians. All the white kids bully the Indians and they think mean names of them and call them names. The Indians are treated differently in the town and that's why he got pulled over because he was Indian.

Tiqa of The Color of water

In The Color of Water, Ruth has changed a lot after the death of her husband and she grieves over his death. She is doing many things to take her mind off of the death of her dead husband and her dead friend. James McBride explains, " Jesus pressed her forward. Each and every Sunday, no matter how tired, depressed, or broke, she got up early, dressed in her best, and headed for church"(McBride). This quote supports the topic because she is going to church to take her mind off of the death of her husband. Before this she has never gone to church because she was a jew.
